Try these in order until it works :

Solution #1 - Reboot your PC or try with another USB port

- Reboot your PC, try again

- Unplug the USB cable on your computer, plug it back in another port.

This fixes about most of the cases

Solution #2 - Do a hard reset on your phone

- Unplug your phone from the USB port

- Turn your phone off completely

- Press and hold the Home button

- Keep holding the Home button and press and hold the power button

- Keep holding both buttons down for 6 seconds, you will see the Apple logo

- Keep holding the Home button, release the power button

- Try again with your phone connected to your computer via USB.

Solution #3 - Reinstall iTune completely (gives good results for Windows users)

- Make sure your Windows OS is patched with latest updates

- Uninstall iTune

- Download a fresh iTune installer and install

Solution #4 - Bad cable, replace cable

- Get a genuine new Apple cable, or borrow one from friend to try

Solution #3 - Use a Mac instead of Windows

This works sometimes when the ones above fail

Solution #5 - "Connect to iTunes" (error 4005)

- Turn off firewall, retry
- Connect via USB port (or a new USB port)

Solution #7 - Screw that iPhone and iTune, iTune is a shame to software engineers and UI designer.

- Get a Samsung S4 or something decent, you won't get these problems.
